Joy.
Fleeting but real
Gushing and powerful,
overwhelming the soul;
Outpouring of love
Blissful satisfaction unlike
all else.
Heart meets head in one
conjunction
As the head understands the
cause of satisfaction
And the heart feels the
delight beyond comprehension;
The soul is filled with
heaven on earth,
Unlike anything ever seen or
felt before.
Sorrow.
Ever-present, overtaking joy
in one gulp
Sudden and scary,
frighteningly
Eating away at the heart
And breaking down the
reasoning of the head.
Robbery, thievery
The head protests in agony,
like immersion in ice
As the heart grows cold
And darkness surrounds them
both
As joy vanishes from the
soul in a breath,
Doubtful if it will ever
return
To fill the soul with
itself.
Anger.
Gripping the heart with fist
of steel
Crushing the head with iron
hands,
Drowning the being in
mindless agony
Nothing can melt the ice
Placed there by Sorrow
No cure can break the
passion or bridge the gap
Between soul and world.
Isolation ensues
The spirit numbs
And the reign of terror
descends to the heart
While the fear of sorrow
seizes the head.
Longing.
Intensified by pain and loss
Flooding the heart with
memories of joy
But no way to gain back the
life lost
Nor the wholeness that has
escaped
From the home of the heart
And the soundness of the
mind.
Logic cannot explain the
pain away.
Peace.
Surrounds the soul with
bittersweet tangs
Life is not the same, and
never will be
Yet the heart is calmed and
the head is at rest,
Though the waters are deep
And the struggles are many.
Resignation.
Change has come and gone
And the heart has suffered
much
But the head says,
"This has happened"
And the soul can relax.
Memories will always remain
a part
Of the heart, the head, and
the soul.
Tears have fallen and
battles been fought;
But the most difficult part
has been accomplished
In acceptance
Of loss.
This is an awesome poem!
